Being a displaced woman in the city of Boston is no easy feat. It is emotionally and physically draining. That’s why in 1974, Rosie’s Place opened as the first women’s shelter in the United States. Their mission? Provide a safe and nurturing environment that helps poor and homeless women maintain their dignity, seek opportunity, and find security in their lives.
Rosie’s Place is an investment where you can immediately see the return. Out of every dollar donated, 88 cents of that goes directly towards resources and services that lend a helping hand to poor and homeless women. Rosie’s Place believes strongly in second chances. Whether a woman needs help with a meal, or a job interview, or a shelter, Rosie’s Place will be there for them.
Rosie’s Place CRUSHED their $572,000 goal by 27%, raising $725,000! In a statement, Rosie’s Place released that “Funds raised from this year’s gala will support emergency services such as shelter, meals and a food pantry, to free ESOL classes and job and housing assistance, to a growing outreach network that reaches women at a housing development in Dorchester, in Boston Public Schools and at local courthouses.”
