If you loved last week’s post from M+D’s stunning wedding, you had only seen the half of it. And I can’t leave you hanging. Your jaw is about to drop. But before we get into the beautiful scenery and awesome party, I want to share a bit from behind the scenes. I asked David Cicicco, director of sales and designs at Marc Hall Designs, to share his inspiration and process for this amazing wedding.
“The design for the M+D Wedding was a fun collaboration to be a part of. The Fairmont Copley Plaza is such a grand hotel with an ornate feel. You may describe it as classic Boston elegance, which is something M+D wanted to keep the integrity of, while bringing in a modern vibe. Connecting the two can sometimes can be tough and has the potential to fall short if not executed properly. I love to design by supplementing what a venue can offer. Don’t get me wrong, transforming a space into something entirely different is a dream, but keeping the old-world charm is just what this wedding needed.
We were able to add in some modern, clean linens by using a mirror Chuppah and mirror pedestals for the ceremony. It provided the gorgeous reflection of everything around them. The floral component, similar to the centerpieces was a perfect merge of traditional blooms of hydrangea and roses with an upscale addition of white orchids. The lighting was key to illuminate the right areas of the space – the architecture and the tables – and to help draw your eye away from elements such as the rug or stage which was not being used. When designing, you always need to consider the experience you want the guests to have or more simply put, where you what you want them to look!”
Special thanks to the amazing team that brought it all together:
