Generations: Part 2

While having a multi-generation mini-family like Karen and Willy‘s is so much fun, we also love our smaller mini-families. We have tons of these. Today I wanted to send a shout out to a bunch of the two generation mini-fams.

First mini-fam:

Sepi and Homan traveled from New York to get married at the Four Seasons Hotel in San Francisco. They had an amazing Persian wedding ceremony followed by great food and endless dancing. We definitely wanted to capture their city sensibilities during the portrait session.

Thank you, Friends!

At this time of year, we have an opportunity to reflect. I don’t do this terribly often, preferring to look ahead and move forward, but I find it really is nice to remind myself how lucky I am. With regards to our work, I can’t imagine being more fortunate. Dave and I both love what we do- we get to be creative in so many different ways.
We love our clients. Our brides and grooms are from so many different walks of life and have so many interesting stories, from all over the country (from San Francisco and Boston to Chicago, New York and Portland to Washington DC and Phoenix).
I love their heritage (Jewish, Chinese, Filipino, Catholic, Japanese),

their romance (boy rescuing girl with a lost show (aka Cinderella) at a party to getting engaged on a mountain top)

and their personalities (fun, funny, thoughtful, intelligent, creative).

Our clients have become our friends. And we are thrilled that we have been able to keep in touch through the years to see their families grow. (A special thank you to Facebook for making that even easier!)
We have been able to work with some of the most creative professionals in the wedding industry. Our colleagues teach us and support us. We are all better for these relationships.

Like I said, we really are unimaginably lucky.
With that, I would like to thank all of our fabulous clients, our wonderful family, and our peers for helping us do what we do. We love you all. Here’s to a fabulous 2009!

Sneak Preview: Emily and Erik’s Wedding

When Emily and Erik had finalized their wedding site, The Mad Art Gallery, we were totally excited. This hip artist exhibition site located in the historic Soulard neighborhood of St. Louis is a former jail with all the accouterments.

And yes, we did do that. How could we not? In fact, we played with all the details of this vintage site.

Meet Me in St. Louis

emily-and-erik-wedding-St. Louis Arch- background for Emily and Erik's wedding

Missouri is not known for its destination wedding industry, but it worked out great for us. Emily grew up in St. Louis and wanted to return for her wedding. We were happy to join her and Erik at the Mad Art Gallery for their celebration. In true destination wedding style, the couple and almost all of their guests flew in from around the country- many from California, several from New York. And of course, we came from Massachusetts.

While here, we took in views of the Arch, visited the zoo in Forest Park, and hung out with our friends Stephanie and Peter Zettl of Zettl Photography. Stephanie and Peter brought us to great St. Louis food (thank you so much for introducing us to concretes at Ted Drewes) and gave us the grand driving tour of the town. It was perfect.

And of course, we would like to thank our amazing couple, Emily and Erik, and their equally fabulous friends and family for the wonderful time we had on Saturday. We just took a quick peak at the images from the day and they are great. We can’t wait to share more with you. But in the meantime, here’s one of our favorites to wet your appetite.
