Craig and Michael- New England Aquarium Wedding

Finally! That’s the word I heard most on the day of Craig and Michael’s wedding, from them, from their family, from their guests. Because after 21 years as a couple, it was really more of a formality and a celebration of their already beautiful and loving partnership. And this was a celebration for the ages!

Craig and Michael are warm, hilarious, fun, welcoming, engaging. They blended their two cultures- Craig’s Scandinavian/Christianity and Michael’s Judaism- to create a very personal ceremony lead by one of their dearest friends. Following this, guests enjoyed cocktails around the aquarium and then a dinner and dance party under a perfectly designed tent.

There are so many favorite moments from this day, but probably my favorite image is actually two images. The first I captured of Craig and Michael at the spot where they first met. The two are snuggling into each other so sweetly. The second was actually of two penguins at the Aquarium in the same position. Together they make me giggle, especially as their graphic theme for their wedding was penguins.

Congrats to Craig and Michael and many thank yous to all the people who made their day so special:

Liz and B.J.- State Room Wedding

Liz and B.J. found each other via the water. Both competitive swimmers. And when water is such an integral part of your life, it also becomes an element of your relationship and ultimately your wedding. So it is perfectly fitting that they got ready for their day at the Intercontinental Hotel with views of the Boston Bay and selected the State Room’s Great Hall with views of city and the water for their reception. We ultimately chose to do their first look behind the hotel, along a dock leading to the water. Though friends and family were above looking on, it felt isolated. It felt calming. It felt right. The perfect start to the next chapter of their lives together.

Congrats to Liz and BJ and many thanks to all the professionals who made their day so special:

Kristin and Tim- Willowdale Wedding

We first met Kristin at one of our favorite weddings, that of Andrea and Eric. She was one of the bridesmaids who sang her toast to Andrea during dinner. It was amazing!!! So when it came time for her to tie the knot, we already knew we were in for really good times. From their engagement session to their wedding celebration, Kristin and Tim found so many ways to share their love of each other and their love of the outdoors.

Choosing a winter wedding in New England for many would be a daunting option. For Kristin and Tim it was perfect. These two skiers couldn’t have had it any other way. And of course, we were all hoping that the weather would cooperate with just enough snow to be beautiful, but not dangerous. Thank you, New England Weather, for accommodating this time!

Congrats to Kristin and Tim and many thank you’s to all the people who made their day so special:

Sophie + Mehmet: Fairmont Copley Plaza Wedding

Blending cultures and families in an intimate gathering. Sophie and Mehmet focused on the special traditions of each of their families- hers Chinese and his Turkish. The incorporated the Chinese Tea Ceremony complete with traditional clothing as well as Turkish music complete with lively dancing. They brought together their ideas of what a perfect ceremony and celebration would be and created many of the elements themselves, and the DIY element worked perfectly for them. Their goal was a beautiful day that spoke to who they were as a couple. They were spot on.

So we begin with part 1….

Donna + Dan: Museum of Science Wedding

Working with Donna and Dan was a blast from the initial meeting to their engagement session in Charlestown to the rehearsal dinner and, at last, the big day itself. Donna has a laugh and smile that is absolutely infectious and Dan has a warm easy way about himself. Though I knew Donna and Dan pretty well by their wedding weekend, the toasts of friends and family both nights were such fun and full of enlightening stories. These two have just the right chemistry – yes, that’s an awful pun based on the Museum of Science backdrop for the wedding reception and, no, I am not sorry  :) – to endear themselves to everyone they meet.

Sally + Dave: OceanCliff Wedding

If you choose a holiday weekend for your wedding celebration, you know your guests will already be in a festive mood and ready to party. If you choose the weekend following Thanksgiving, you also get the added bonus of getting extra time with family and friends. If you plan a destination wedding that spans two days, you know that you will all be relaxed and immersed in the beauty of the occasion. And so when Sally and Dave spoke to us about their wedding- first an intimate ceremony reception the night after Thanksgiving and then a larger blow-out party the following evening- we knew it would be magic. Not to mention that Sally and Dave exude warmth with their whole beings; you just instantly feel welcomed and embraced by them. And so we began as lucky photographers to Day 1 of this amazing celebration….

Renee + Chris: Marliave Restaurant Wedding

I am still so excited for Renee and Chris and their recent nuptials. Full disclosure: Renee is a good friend of ours. We have worked with her for many years and shared an office with her when she was a full time member of the SD Events team. And to say that she is fabulous, is an understatement. She is creative, compassionate, and one of the most hard-working people we know. Chris is her perfect match- he has a relaxed energy about him and an easy sense of humor. In many ways they are so different, but I couldn’t imagine either of them with anyone else. Their wedding was romantic, warm and just plain fun.

So many favorite moments from this day: their first look at the Hotel Nine Zero bar, the portraits that Dave created in the alley by the restaurant utilizing great light and steam from some vent (crazy beautiful, creative and something I think only Dave could see), when Renee pulled out her cell phone to read her vows after she had explicitly told Chris he couldn’t do that- too much laughter over that one, seeing the whole team of wedding professionals pulling together for one of their own, Renee & Chris’ first dance, the sweets table, and getting to dance with my sweetie to “It Had to Be You” (Thank you, John Zucco, for playing it for me.)

And now the fun part. The pix (part 1)….

Tracey + Joel: Inspiration & Details from a Boston Harbor Hotel Wedding

Probably the moment of  Tracey and Joel’s wedding that will always stick with me is her expression when she walked into the Wharf Room and saw the amazing-ness created by Gregory and his team at Flou(-e)r. She had wanted floral magic and she got it. She had these ideas about the guest card table, something about a flower hedge, and he made it happen. And then there was this crazy cool chandelier of flowers over the dance floor. It was all truly stunning. And when Tracey walked in I could see how everything was exactly what she had dreamed of for her special day.

But let’s begin at the beginning….

Nina + Aggelos: Details and Inspiration

As this post is all about the amazing inspiration and details behind Nina and Aggelos’ wedding, I really need to devote it to Lo McShay from LoLo Event Design. Honestly she took a nice but neutral hotel ballroom and turned it into something magical. The drapes, the lights, the flowers, the custom designed plate settings and bar brought Nina and Aggelos’ dream of a luxurious wedding to life. Her vision was flawless. Enjoy!

Diana & Mike’s Fall Wedding at Harrington Farm

Perhaps the best word to describe the feel of Diana and Mike’s wedding was warmth. Sure they married on a brisk November day but everything about their day exuded their personal warmth and reflected their joy- from their huge smiles and genuine affection for their family and friends to the colors they chose and even the sky and sunset.

Special thanks to the team of professionals who made everything go smoothly:
