About Us

October 25th, 2007 by Dave

We are a boutique studio specializing in capturing life through fine art photography.

As husband and wife, we are always a team. We know each others’ strengths and weaknesses and know how to complement each other. Our trust and respect for what each of us brings to the table allows us freedom to create beautiful images for our clients. We can also focus on learning about the people we work for, understanding who they are and what they want. These positive relationships allow our clients to relax and be themselves with us.

We love what we do and we love that we get to do it for people who appreciate excellent service and great art.

About Me
by Jo

I remember the first time I had my own camera. I was 11 years old and my dad had given it to me for our trip to the Southwest. I must have burned 15 rolls of film on that trip. Once I had that camera in my hand, I couldn’t stop. I continued shooting through high school and college, learned darkroom techniques and worked with my first SLRs. My coursework included fine art photography (architectural, abstract, still life), portraiture, and documentary photography. I continued to shoot, particularly when traveling. Dave introduced me to the wonders of slide film and the amazing saturation of the colors. We returned to the Southwest and I felt I had come full-circle.

When he took the leap into wedding photography in 2004, I gladly jumped with him. I feel like I get to use my talents and skills- not only photography, but theatrical directing as well- towards a joyous end. It has been such a pleasure to witness and celebrate with so many amazing couples. And we have been privileged to watch as their families grow.

Why I enjoy working with Dave?

I know he will come up with amazing images. His creativity and enthusiasm push me to work harder. He makes me want to learn more and try more. It’s a friendly competition to see who can come up with the best image each time we go out. Plus he makes me laugh.

About Me
by Dave

When I first visited Europe, I was amazed at the beauty of the people and the architecture. I had never seen anything like it and I felt compelled to create photographs that were as amazing as what I was seeing. It turns out I enjoyed the photography immensely and wanted to continue making beautiful images. I focused my energies on landscapes. By reading and practicing, I learned all about light and the ways it could affect my subject.

After several years working with film and photographing landscapes, I tackled two new challenges, digital and people. I couldn’t be happier. I love working with people and experiencing their joys. They are constantly changing, giving me endless opportunities. And the camera technology affords me the flexibility to take my images to the next level. Typically, I know what I want to do with an image before I take it, but I can’t wait to bring it back to the digital darkroom and explore the possibilities.

After diving into wedding photography in 2004, I realized I had found the perfect match for my skills. I had spent several years training as a graphic designer and loved working behind the camera. Weddings are great because they are all about telling a story. They require a complete visual understanding, knowledge of light, composition and camera as well as how to unify the pieces of the puzzle and present them in a visually interesting way. I love seeing my clients’ reaction when I deliver their album, the end product that brings this all together.

Why I enjoy working with Jo?

She’s got my back. For every shot I get, I know she will get a different angle, show something different about the scene. After I shoot, I am always eager to see what she came up with. And she’s darn smart.
