Thrilled to share a few photos from a fall family portrait session. We absolutely adore this crew. You can feel their warmth, their playfulness and their enjoyment spending time together. For their portraits, we focused on the ways in which they interact. I hope you will enjoy the hugs, the laughter, the joy of the trampoline, and the freedom of a bike ride. I am pleased to introduce one of our favorite Wellesley families.

Thank you all. It was fabulous to work with you!

The thing about being a photographer is that it is all too easy to miss documenting your own life. And even more challenging to create photos of you with your family. We knew we wanted photos with our Giant Schnauzer Max (we have tons of images of him, and tons of him with each of us, but very few with him and both Dave and I). We also knew we were not alone in needing photos with our beloved canine baby. Amy Hawkes of Click Imagery is a supremely talented photographer in the Boston area, and she has a fabulous furkid, Jaxon. So we proposed a trade.
On one lovely afternoon in June, we ventured to Wellesley College‘s beautiful gardens for family photography and then a bite to eat. And here we have a few of our faves from the session.
Amy and Jax, all smiles.
Sweet moment.
Love how Jaxon looks up at Amy. So expectant and attentive.
Amy has a great sense of humor. This one absolutely captures the amusement in her relationship with Jaxon.
More smiles.
Jaxon is a ball dog. And for those of you who have ball dogs, you understand the intensity involved.
Communicating about the ball.
A simple portrait of Amy’s best friend.
Dave was fascinated with Jax’s squirrel like tail. (I imagine this was because Max didn’t have one, but I can’t be sure.)
We left the cover of the trees for the warmth of the grasses. Jaxon has beautiful bright brown eyes.
Another thing about Amy, she’s a competitive runner and triathlete. So she and Jax often enjoy jogging together.
Oh and a super cute High 5 trick.
One last image, I think this is Dave’s favorite from the whole furkid session. So funny and whimsical.

Many thanks to Amy and Jaxon for spending the afternoon with us in Wellesley and being such great models. We love you guys!

This fall, we met up with two of our favorite couples to put together a promotional video for Allegro Photography. Dave and I were behind the still cameras. Courtney and Brian were behind the video cameras. And Andrea and Eric were in front of the four of us, fearlessly tackling their role as our models. It also happened to be right around Andrea and Eric‘s one year anniversary, so it was a little bit of an anniversary celebration as well.
We were lucky enough to have a picture perfect, sunny afternoon. After meeting up at Boston‘s Courthouse area, we dove into the shoot along Fort Point Channel.
On the docks…
Love this scene.
Dancing under the bridge.
It had been raining pretty much the whole week prior to our portrait session, which left us with lots of reflective puddles.
Playing with the industrial look. Great contrast between their soft vibrancy and the gray harsh background.
Enjoying a moment.
Love the Barking Crab‘s bright redness.
In reflection.
We walked over by the Children’s Museum to enjoy the shade of the willow trees.
And really cool white rock sculptures.

After the session was finished, we all enjoyed a bite to eat. Not only was it fun working with our crew, we had a great time catching up and hanging out. Thank you all for sharing your time and your talents.
It looks like the video will be ready soon, so these are really just to whet your appetite. I hope you enjoyed!

This past September, I had the pleasure of working with Mimosa on a table top design they created for Grace Ormonde Wedding Style Magazine. I arrived early to help determine the best spot for the table with regards to lighting. So I was able to watch Teresa Fung and her talented team work. Oh my! What a treat. They are such artists, only instead of painting with oils or watercolors, they paint in three dimentions with flowers and plants, with linens and tableware. As they were working, I observed and I documented; I was captivated.
Our story starts at Mistral Restaurant, the location for our shoot. Their very chic private events space and wine room was the backdrop for the table.
Teresa had already prepped some of the floral before she arrived. In particular, the very time intensive work of attaching orchids to willow branches.
Some pieces had to be assembled on site. I was fascinated by these clear gelatinous balls that are nearly clear when you add water.
They allowed plants, such as these succulents, to appear as if they were floating in a glass vase.
So creative, this design used glass candelabras as containers for floral.
Teresa is very hands-on. She would look at the design from every angle and make adjustments to the flowers or the linens or the glassware, seeking perfection.

Even the tiniest details were thought of. These miniature flowers were strung around tall vases.
Pinks of all shades.
Love the burgundy calla lily on the square plate. (Idea for Valentine’s Day?)
Gorgeous. Gorgeous flowers.
Even the linens had a floral feel. And Teresa had two options so that she could see how the whole look came together- one lavender and one this deeper fuchsia color.
Another look as the pieces are coming together.
Sometimes it just takes four hands to get the flowers to cooperate.
And finally, everything is complete. Simply magical. Love the arch and how it frames the candles and softens the wall in the background.
Romantic glassware.
The vision. I couldn’t get over how beautiful this was. I know I would feel immensely special eating a meal at such a beautiful table.
And ultimately published in Grace Ormonde Wedding Style Magazine. Congrats to Teresa and the whole Mimosa team. Such an absolutely beautiful work of art!

When I think back to Pamela and Albert’s wedding this summer, I am reminded of the music, and the food. But for this entry I think I will focus on the music. It was a lyrical day from beginning to end. And the music was always accompanied by intense emotion, both spiritual and later humorous.
When last I wrote, the bride and groom were just about to walk down the aisle. Here I begin with some of the music from their ceremony at the Boston Chinese Evangelical Church in Newton.
This little one was humming to her own tune.
And our bride and groom with heartfelt song.
One of their friends lead the group.
A quiet moment of prayer during the service.
After the ceremony, we had a few minutes for portraits and stopped by Boston’s Museum of Fine Arts. The MFA has some really lovely architectural elements.
Then off to Veronique for the reception. Food is a huge part of their lives, so Pamela and Albert treated their guests to a five course meal.
One of the most fun Chinese customs is for the bride to change dresses during the evening. Of course this meant more getting ready photographs for me.
Pamela looked lovely in each and everyone.
Then back in the reception, as the couple toasted their friends, they were serenaded. Here’s their reaction to the group.
And ending with the boys singing their hearts out!

What an absolutely enjoyable day. Congrats again to Pamela and Albert and much gratitude for including us.
