Earlier this month, we teamed up with some amazing vendors to do an editorial wedding fashion shoot. This one took us to Killington, Vermont, a resort town in the beautiful Appalachian Mountains. A snowy winter day provided the perfect backdrop and theme for our portrait session.

We had a fabulous visit at the Liberty Hotel, located in Boston‘s Beacon Hill neighborhood. This place is amazing, a former prison turned into a modern chic luxury hotel. All of the special touches speak to the history of the place. And yet the fabulous design makes you feel like you are absolutely in the present. We were told they even brought in a Buddhist monk to bless the hotel before it opened. They definitely covered all their bases. And what is left is a perfect mesh of old and new.

Deana and Nick had a fabulous wine country wedding at the beginning of fall. She did an amazing job with the feel of the day. Deana incorporated all sorts of special touches to highlight the time of year and the location, the gardens and wine cave at Hans Fahden Vineyards.

We just got back from Mystic 4. Mystic 4 is a wonderful 2 day retreat filled with action packed seminars and wonderful opportunities to network. I just wanted to say thank you to Walter van Dusen for organizing and to all of the presenters (Huy Nguyen, Christopher David, Vladimir Chaloupka, George Weir, David Murray, Michelle Turner, Ben Chrisman, Anne Ruthmann) for generously donating their time to make this event fabulous. Looking forward to next year.

We had an amazing portrait session while we were down in DC over the holidays. Kinsley was almost 3 months old and is simply adorable. She has the best cheeks, super soft hair, and bright eyes. And she has a great sense of style, too- simply loved the overalls.

This past year, while living in Western Mass, I had the opportunity to visit some amazing wedding sites and connect with my peers in the industry. I wanted to share some images from a few of these fabulous venues, as well as my impressions and their story.
I just had to start with Wheatleigh in Lenox, MA. Dave and I met up with Sebastian Serre after hearing about Wheatleigh from Lisa Hoffman at Ceci New York.

This French chateau is a jewel in the Berkshires crown. Really spectacular. Not only has this amazing hotel won all kinds of awards (AAA Five Diamond Rating, Robb Report Luxury Resorts List of 100 Best Places to Stay, Andrew Harper’s Hideaway Report Hotel of the Year Grand Award Winner), it has perhaps the most romantic storied beginning. At the turn of the century, the Florentine palazzo was built as a wedding gift by H.H. Cook for his daughter, who was soon to be a countess. In my opinion, this alone would make it the perfect place to get married.

For my last entry in the generations series, I wanted to focus on the mini-fam of Linda and Mike. When Linda and Mike found us for their 2006 wedding, we were so excited. You should see the way he looks at her- melts your heart. We were really looking forward to their fall wedding. They celebrated with their ceremony at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in San Francisco, their wedding portraits at the Legion of Honor and their wedding reception at Castlewood Country Club in Pleasanton, coordinated by Jubilee Lau of Jubilee Lau Events.

Every once in a while someone (or a family of someones) comes along and puts everything into perspective. We had the opportunity to photograph such a family just after Christmas.

Michael was diagnosed with cancer last February. The strength and courage of the Chase family to perservere, to connect with others, and to remain positive is truly inspiring. I am so thankful that we had this chance to give back.
Get well soon, Michael! We’re pulling for you.

While having a multi-generation mini-family like Karen and Willy‘s is so much fun, we also love our smaller mini-families. We have tons of these. Today I wanted to send a shout out to a bunch of the two generation mini-fams.
First mini-fam:
Sepi and Homan traveled from New York to get married at the Four Seasons Hotel in San Francisco. They had an amazing Persian wedding ceremony followed by great food and endless dancing. We definitely wanted to capture their city sensibilities during the portrait session.
