When Emily and Erik had finalized their wedding site, The Mad Art Gallery, we were totally excited. This hip artist exhibition site located in the historic Soulard neighborhood of St. Louis is a former jail with all the accouterments.

And yes, we did do that. How could we not? In fact, we played with all the details of this vintage site.

But I am getting ahead of myself.

When we arrived at the gallery, Emily had a little time to get ready and freshen up.

She walked down the aisle to meet Erik in the gallery’s courtyard. The ceremony was great. And with this group, we knew it would be. One minute tears were flowing due to the love and emotion of the moment. And the next bursts of laughter poured forth because of Emily and Erik’s great sense of humor and natural comic timing.

Following the ceremony, we finished up the portraits. Em and Erik arranged for her brother to bring this totally awesome car (previously seen during the sneak peak). I think this shot really captures the essense of the day- vintage coolness, beautiful romantic couple, and stormy weather- check out the rain drops on the car.

The sun set and the lights in the gallery/reception hall really set the stage for a fun evening. I love how the artwork hanging from the ceiling in the gallery mimics the palm frond outside.

These kids had us cracking up much of the evening. Dave took this image while they were hanging out in the jail cell. Seems fitting, somehow. 🙂Kids in Jail at the Mad Art Gallery- St. Louis Portrait

You may recall that we included Erik’s trumpet skills as part of the engagement session. He serenaded us during that session so we knew he was talented. But I had no idea he could sing, too. His voice is absolutely beautiful. On top of that, he wrote the song he is singing here. What a treat!

At the end of the evening. Emily enjoyed a dance with dad, musical accompaniment by Erik and friends.

We hope you are enjoying the images. We wanted to share a few more beyond the sneak peak as soon as we could. The final batch will be completed in about a week so check back then.
